The Great Pyrenees are WELL KNOWN for their loyalty, intelligence and un-wavering courage. The Lazy P Ranch has proudly utilized these noble dogs to guard our livestock and we have bred them for farmers looking to protect their livestock. The Great Pyrenees is one of the oldest breeds of dog in the world descended from livestock guardian dogs in Asia.For reasons unbeknownst to us and other breeders, these amazing animals have a natural instinct that makes them ideally suited to guard livestock. They work in "teams" - when a team is necessary and each instinctively seems to know his or her role in that team. They are loyal to the ends of the earth and intelligent beyond compare. Realizing this sounds like a "sales pitch", we must admit the GREAT PYRENEES is one of the world's great wonders & best-kept secrets!!
Because we LOVE these noble dogs, we have retained a couple of females and a male to provide Great Pyrenees to our customers. In addition, we will provide the cross with 1/2 Great Pyrenees and 1/2 Karakachan for the customers who prefer this cross.
THIS PICTURE is a perfect representation of what GREAT PYRENEES/LIVESTOCK GUARDIANS do!! Note that this male and female are looking different directions. They are "surveying the ranch", guarding all the livestock. What you cannot see is that they are laying out in the north pasture--in a perfect location to see all the animals on our ranch within their field(s) of sight!!!
